It provides grants to disadvantaged communities. Since its launch in 2003 it has distributed over £3 million in grants to over 40 projects.

A helping hand for food projects

fruit&veg.jpg Community Food and Health Scotland (CFHS) has announced that their small grant scheme will be open for applications from the 29th April 2010 and will close on the 9th July 2010. Grants from £500 to £4,000 are available to groups and agencies who would like to tackle one or more of the barriers to healthy eating, such as affordability or availability, and the negative impact of culture and lack of food skills.

Children in Need Grants

pudsey.jpgBBC Children in Need are inviting not-for-profit organisations (including registered charities, voluntary organisations, schools, local authorities, churches, social enterprises, community interest groups, universities etc) working with disadvantaged children and young people 18 years and under, living in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, to apply for grants of up to £10,000 through their small grants scheme.

New Business cash in the Highlands

cashstock2.jpgA new grant scheme has been introduced in the Highlands to help new businesses with their start up costs. It is hoped that at least 120 businesses will benefit from a grant - which can be used, for example, to buy equipment or market the new business. The scheme has been developed by The Highland Council, Highland Leader Programme, and Highland Opportunity, to help boost the local economy in the wake of the recession by encouraging the start up of new businesses.

Cash for wave and tidal

marineenergy.jpgThe Technology Strategy Board has announced a £12 million investment to help develop the wave and tidal technologies of the future, and is inviting innovative businesses to apply through two new collaborative R&D competitions. The first call will open on the 8th March and close on the 29th April, with a total investment of £9 million.

Cash for greener farming

farmthornhill.jpgThe Carbon Trust has announced financial help is now available for farmers to invest in energy-saving equipment. British farmers are now eligible to apply for unsecured, interest-free loans for between £3,000 and £20,000 to help them upgrade to more energy-efficient equipment. The new funding has been provided to help the farming sector to meet the carbon reduction aims laid out the Government’s Low Carbon Transition Plan.

Climate Challenge Fund Round 5 announcement
