richardlochhead.jpgOn January 22, 2010, the Scottish Government announced a new streamlined approach to delivery of the Zero Waste agenda, set out to tackle waste challenges in Scotland.

The current WRAP Scotland programme will become Zero Waste Scotland, led by Iain Gulland. In addition, the new programme will integrate the activities of other current programmes: Waste Aware Scotland; Envirowise Scotland; Remade Scotland; Keep Scotland Beautiful; NISP; and the Community Recycling Network for Scotland.

You can read more about what Environment Secretary Richard Lochhead said on the Scottish Government website.

It isn't entirley clear what will happen to the the branding of Waste Aware Scotland, Envirowise Scotland, Remade Scotland and NISP - it looks as if they will be disappearing and will become Zero Waste Scotland in their entirety, as will WRAP Scotland.  KSB and CRNS remain, but where their work comes under Zero Waste Scotland they will report to Iain Gulland.
