Cavity insulation
With energy giants increasing gas prices by a staggering 35% people will be looking towards ways to keep the bills as low as possible. One solution is cavity wall insulation which could result in savings of around 25% on heating bills.

Around a third of all heat lost in an uninsulated house is through the walls. Cavity wall insulation is a clean, quick and inexpensive process whereby the installer injects the insulation in between the inner and outer courses of brickwork filling the space between the two, trapping air in pockets and creating an effective barrier against heat loss.

Costs can be as little as £210 and financial help may be available to you. The government recognises that insulating cavity walls is a cost effective way to reduce energy loss. Therefore there are grants available to help towards the cost of the work and if you are on benefits or tax credit or over 70 years old you are likely to qualify for free insulation. Check the government grant website to see if you qualify.

The average payback time was around 4 years before the rise in gas prices but this will now dramatically be reduced.
