A simple climate change step that you can take to reduce your carbon footprint - check out the Sedbuk website and find out how energy efficient your boiler is.
If your boiler is 5 years old or more, chances are that the energy rating isn't nearly as good as current models. The website www.sedbuk.com
contains a database of known current and obsolete boilers and how efficient they are.
You can use the handy search facility to find out about your model and there are over 4000 boilers to search through. Once you have found your boiler, you can check what the average annual running costs are and compare how much it would cost to run one of the more energy efficient boilers instead. So if for example you had the Potterton Myson C80 with 55% efficiency, it would cost you £634 a year to run in a detached house. Compare that with a Vaillant Eco Tec Plus 937, with an efficiency rating of 91.5%, and an avarage annual cost of £396.
