donaldtrumpDonald Trump and his Aberdeenshire Greatest Crayzee Golf Course in the Universe has been the subject of several Sustainable Scotland articles. This is another one! I return to the attack on Thatchman because of an article which our site visitors may have missed. It appeared in The Mail on Sunday on New Year’s Day and, as far as I can ascertain, the article is not available online and the interview in which Donaldo trumpets his power and influence over the Scottish Government seems to have been generally missed by the media.

But, for the benefit of Sustainable Scotland readers, I scour the newspapers, even The Mail on Sunday and even on New Year’s Day, so that no pronouncements of such a great trump-steak salesman should escape your notice.

In US magazine, article not available online, DT (known to his minions as the Deity) tells us the secret of his success in having his Aberdeenshire housing scheme plus Crayzee Golf Course approved. “I flew in and, frankly, my celebrity and my track record got it approved. And my money.” That wasn’t enough. He then added, “The First Minister, who’s the boss of Scotland, wanted this to happen”. Some moaning minnies, carping critics, and silly cynics might think this adds some weight to their conviction that the Scottish Government was prepared to ignore planning procedures and allow the desecration of unspoiled coastscape to pander to the demands of a mega-wealthy businessman.

DT also hints that he has been given a guarantee that the proposed off-shore windfarm with 394-feet-high giant turbines, which he claims will spoil the view from Trumpton on Sea, will not go ahead. “I think it’s on hold. They made a pledge to me that they wouldn’t build them.” DT did not say who had given him a guarantee and the Scottish Government has insisted that no deal has been done with him.

Aberdeenshire councillor Debra Storr said, referring to DT claims about a windfarm deal, “There is a point where even Donald Trump’s celebrity and bullying don’t get what he wants because there is too much money at stake. This is not a normal windfarm. It’s a development to test new designs for turbines so it’s strategically important for Scotland. It’s big stuff – it dwarfs the Menie estate development.” Debra Storr is a Green councillor and therefore an opponent of Aberdeenshire Council’s support of DT’s Menie development.

For information about Sustainable Scotland’s complete coverage of the Trump saga (including articles on the turbines, the film, the prison, the hair and the hypocrisy), see: The NeverEnding Story.

In addition to the Greatest Crayzee Golf Course in the Universe (more accurately two of the Greatest Crayzee Golf Courses in the Universe) the Menie development will include a hotel, spa and conference centre, 36 golf villas, the prison (which some people have already dubbed “The Clubhouse”; and 500 affordable houses (affordable, that is, if you are very very wealthy).

Apology. In some earlier articles on this site we referred disrespectfully to the Greatest Crayzee Golf Course in the Universe as a putting green. We unreservedly apologise for this.

Protesters Plan to Pull Trump’s Strings

A group of artists will start work this month on a music video showing a Spitting Image-style puppet of DT singing his own version of the Queen hit Bohemian Rhapsody. The project has the backing of Queen guitarist Brian May who accused DT of “bullying the defenceless”. The video will be recorded on 25 January. This of course is the birthday of Robert Burns, who also has attracted the attention of Sustainable Scotland (although in this case pushing the boundaries of sustainability to, and possibly beyond, the limit). See Burns Night, 25 January 2012. This article will, at an appropriate time, be retitled Burns Night, 25 January 2013!

Donald Trump, or a spokesperson for the megalomaniac multi-billionaire is not amused by the puppet Trump, describing the project as an “infantile publicity stunt”. For more information about this fantastic, amazing, commendable, inspiring and uplifting, aesthetically pleasing and artistically satisfying attack on the vanities, vainglories and peculiar perversions of rampant and rancorous Trumpism, visit the puppet-Trump-project website. There you will also see what I am sure you are all desperately eager to see – the puppet Trump in all its rubbery glory.

Music to string up puppets by
To accompany this article I have chosen a song by one of my favourite popular music ensembles, the Swedish skatepunk-rock combo Satanic Surfers. It is, appropriately, Puppet. If you click this link you will be able to listen to Satanic Surfers performing their song and also read the lyrics as they sing (very helpful because you might not otherwise pick up much of what they are singing about! and the lyrics are actually rather good).
