Artists of all kinds are getting all ethical and sustainable these days. Long time ethical man, Bob Dylan has given his backing to a new album which is raising money for Artists Project Earth – a disaster relief fund which helps victims of natural disasters all over the world. Dylan has given permission to Rhythms Del Mundo to rework his song, ‘A Hard Rain’s A Gonna Fall’. It’s the first time he’s ever given official permission for the song to be used in this way.
“Proceeds from this album will be used to provide necessities such as medical supplies, food, water and shelter to the people of Haiti, Chile and the Tibetan Plateau who are still struggling to survive in the wake of recent devastating earthquakes.”
The Rhythms Del Mundo: Revival sees a number of well known songs reworked by Afro-Cuban musicians, often using the original or rerecorded vocals by the original artists. Other tracks on the Revival album include ‘I Fought The Law’ and ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’

Go on, someone, tell us what precisely (that's a joke!) Mr Dylan was wittering on about in that song. What's he trying to tell us rain is a metaphor for? And surely Mr Zimmerman can afford to retire, and live on the royalties from all the sales of his Zimmer Frames?
