cashstock1 Applications for funding form the JESSICA Scotland Fund have to be submitted by THIS FRIDAY, 6^th AUGUST. Thirteen local authority areas are currently eligible to apply for the funding set out in the ERDF Priority 3 - Urban Regeneration Programme:

Clackmannanshire

Dundee

East Ayrshire

Edinburgh

Fife

Glasgow

Inverclyde

North Ayrshire

North Lanarkshire

Renfrewshire

South Lanarkshire

West Dunbartonshire

West Lothian

The Joint European Support for Sustainable Investment in City Areas (JESSICA) Fund was launched by Alex Neil, Housing and Communities Minister, early last month with £50 million to be invested in

Scotland

to help resurrect regeneration schemes halted by the recession. The idea is that the whole zones will benefit from cash for major regeneration of derelict sites, development of new business spaces, wireless zones, green energy for social housing and more efficient transport schemes.

The fund, a new policy initiative by European Commission, is financed by the European Investment Bank and the Scottish Government. The investment will be ‘recycled’ in order to provide continued finance to local communities according to Alex Neil, “Importantly by ensuring we recycle the cash investment, through an ‘invest now, repay us later’ model, we will support many key projects and leave a lasting legacy to fund regeneration in Scotland for many years.”

As stated above, the application deadline is THIS FRIDAY 6^th AUGUST and completed applications should be returned to jessica.esep.co.uk.
