Scottish local authorities in the East coast of Scotland have revealed they are exploring the potential of an "Energy Alliance". A move which would bring together "key players" from the energy sector from Peterhead to Dunbar to champion what they claim could become one of the country's main areas for renewable energy development.
The alliance will work in partnership with Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International. The main aim of the alliance will be to enable various organisations including Universities, colleges, businesses and other public service bodies to explore opportunities for cooperation. It is hoped these organisations will work in tandem to promote the East Coast region as a "key location" for development.
The alliance aims to strengthen the East Coast offering Industry knowledge sharing, industry research, supply chain and skills development as well as global promotion of the area as a region. As well as the clustering of infrastructure to enhance existing projects.
Fife council have confirmed that seven local authorities are working together at the moment to develop the alliance and in doing so giving an indication of what the initial structure will look like.
