Farmhouse Breakfast Week (1:00AM)
Farmhouse Breakfast Week is an annual campaign that emphasises the importance of eating a healthy breakfast every day. 'Think Breakfast' is the theme of this year's celebration to encourage everyone to wake up to breakfast as part of a healthy balanced diet and active lifestyle. Nutritionists agree that a healthy breakfast is essential for starting the day.

All stages of the food chain from farmers to food producers and retailers to consumers are being encouraged to hold events across the country to promote the importance of starting the day with breakfast and to celebrate the wealth of high quality regional produce available across the UK.

Food Waste Synergie Workshop (11:30AM - 3:30PM)
Food/catering waste can be as much as 70% of total waste generated from businesses; diverting this from landfill could dramatically increase companies recycling rates. Food waste is becoming an increasing area of focus not just relating to household waste but also with commercial businesses. The driver for this to a certain extent has been the increases in landfill costs, and company’s desires to become more environmentally conscious. The potential cost reductions of diverting food wastes from landfill are especially judicious with the current economic climate. The facilities available within the Aberdeen area to recover food type wastes are arguably the best in Scotland at present with the commissioning of the Keenan Recycling In-Vessel site. Existing facilities (Rennie’s Biogas site and Grays In-Vessel) along the new In-Vessel site provide options for not only different types of biodegradable materials but also potential opportunities to reduce waste management costs.
