Last year, this project diverted 49 tonnes of bicycles from going to landfill, and gave cycling commuters that extra bit of confidence to tackle rush-hour traffic.



Looking at the Bike Station today it's hard to believe that this thriving Edinburgh charity, which employs 11 staff and 35 regular volunteers, began as a one-man bike repair outfit in a suburban back garden.
