Mechanisation and the sourcing of new users for its end products is helping mattress recycling initiative SpringBack get nearer to closing the loop.
When you open the door to SpringBack's workshop and warehouse in Markinch, tower upon tower of mattresses confront your eyes.
In between the piles are bales of curious-looking materials, clues that these well-worn mattresses will shortly enter the deconstruction cycle, like thousands of mattresses before them.
