The Dumfries and Galloway Accessible Transport Forum is a website that encourages groups to establish community-driven transport initiatives, ranging from community minibus, car sharing, dial-a-ride, social car schemes, to 'walking buses' and cycle projects.

A derelict site, a former public toilet, was an eyesore in the village of Kirn. EnviroKirn Action Group decided to landscape this area and turn it into an active play area.

Abriachan Forest consists of 534 hectares of planted Conifers, Native Broadleaves and naturally regenerating open hill. The Forest was purchased by the Abriachan Community in March 1998 and is one of the largest community owned woodlands in the UK. The Abriachan Forest Trust was established to manage the forest on behalf of the community.
