The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) has established the Amsterdam Initiative on Malnutrition (AIM), a Dutch public-private partnership aiming to eliminate malnutrition in Africa by 2015.
AIM will work on a careful step-by-step basis to reduce malnutrition in
six target countries: Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, Mozambique
and Tanzania.In trying to make progress towards achievement of one of the Millennium Development Goals , AIM plans to develop effective and sustainable approaches to accelerate the delivery of improved nutrition. It is hope that it will result in more low cost - high quality fortified staples and processed products in the market place through innovative marketing and effective distribution channels. Partners include The Dutch government AkzoNobel DSM – the Life Sciences and Materials Sciences Company Unilever Wageningen University
