bbcimagepoverty.jpgThe Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) has established the Amsterdam Initiative on Malnutrition (AIM), a Dutch public-private partnership aiming to eliminate malnutrition in Africa by 2015. AIM will work on a careful step-by-step basis to reduce malnutrition in six target countries: Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Tanzania.

In trying to make progress towards achievement of one of the Millennium Development Goals , AIM plans to develop effective and sustainable approaches to accelerate the delivery of improved nutrition. It is hope that it will result in more low cost - high quality fortified staples and processed products in the market place through innovative marketing and effective distribution channels.

Partners include

The Dutch government
AkzoNobel
DSM – the Life Sciences and Materials Sciences Company
Unilever
Wageningen University
